There are several levels of discount you can give in a project, for example discounts on equipment items or on a complete project. These discounts can also be shown flexible in the financial documents. This makes it possible to give discounts on specific equipment items you have sufficient margin on without showing this to the customer. In this case you can choose to not show the item discounts in the quotation and only show the total discount in the end. Because of this flexibility however it is possible that when you change where you show discounts it could be summing up incorrectly.
In this article the levels of discounts are explained as well as the way to show different levels of discounts in documents.
Discount levels
Rentman makes use of four different discount levels:
- Item discount ( Discount on one item)
- Group discount ( Discount on one group of equipment)
- Module discount ( Discount on all equipment/Functions/Rides)
- Project discount ( Discount on the total cost of the project)
Example
If you have an item that costs 100€ and a item discount of 20% then the rest sum will be 80€. If you afterwards also give a group discount of 20% the rest sum will be 64€. An additional equipment discount of 10% would reduce the rest sum to 57,60€. And finally, if you give a project discount of 10%, the rest sum is 51,84€.
1. Item discount
Item discount can be entered in the equipment tab of a project.
2. Group discount
Group discount is also entered in the equipment module of a project. To enter it double click on the group you would like to give a discount or select it and click on "Change".
3. Module discount
Module discount is given in the financial tab of a project below the different project modules.
4. Project discount
Project discount is entered in the financial tab of the project below "Total".
Showing discounts on templates
When customizing your templates you can select which discounts should be shown at which place. Item discounts and and group discounts are usually always shown together with the individual items and all others are shown in the total discount.
To change the display of discounts, click on the symbol after you have entered the equipment module and click on "Show advanced settings".
At all places where a price or discount is shown ( in the columns and the general settings) you can determine which discounts should be charged to the price.
Do not forget to change the Prices that should be shown in the module "Total sum" to make sure that the offer's addition stays constantly the same.
